The OVA Beach Tour is constantly evolving to provide more opportunities for athletes to enter the sport, succeed and develop their beach volleyball skills. Not only do we have numerous Youth and Adult Beach Tour events, but we also offer Satellite events at other locations each weekend to reach more beach volleyball players across Ontario.
Given the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Beach Tour will be building off the 2020 Beach Friendlies model with the hopes of running full-day events over the summer, if the government regulations begin to ease.
The Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) will offer a modified Beach Tour, and athletes will earn points and have rankings with the plans of a modified Ontario Beach Championships to fall in line with government regulations.
The events will follow Return To Play protocols and Public Health Guidelines that support a safe return to volleyball.
The OVA will be working with previous satellite hosts to run OVA Beach Tour events in multiple venues across the province and participants will be receiving Beach Tour points across all venues to help alleviate the need for travel outside of their region.
A modified playoff format will also be introduced for the 2021 season, that will give each team a specific rank after playoffs are completed. At the moment a province-wide Ontario Beach Championships is tentative and more information will be available at a later date.
On March 1st, 2021 the OVA held a town hall meeting to provide an update on the 2021 Beach Tour season and other outdoor programs in the works.
