The OVA would like to extend congratulations to yet another Ontario Referee for their promotion!

Hollie Roy was recently successful in earning her National Badge at the Youth National Championships in Edmonton after scoring the highest grade in her testing group at just under 96%.

Hailing from North Bay, Hollie has been blazing her way through the referee upgrade programs. After successfully gaining her Local Level 1 in September 2008, Provincial Level 2 in May 2011 and Regional Level 3 in October 2016, Hollie becomes the first referee from Region 2 to make their way successfully through the National Upgrade Program.

In the past few years Hollie has been in the stand for almost all of the largest games in Ontario including OCAA Women's Championship Gold and Bronze Medal Matches, Humber Cup Men's Gold Medal Match, D1T1 Gold Medal Matches for both 18U Boys and 18U Girls at the Ontario Championships as well as the D1T1 Gold Medal Match for 17U Girls at Volleyball Canada Youth Nationals.

Out of the stand, Hollie has been a part of the Ontario Provincials RDT program since 2017, and is a certified Indoor Clinician and Mentor and Region 2 eScoring Clinician.

As a National level Referee Hollie is eligible to officiate at all competition levels in Ontario (Ontario Championships, High Performance Centres, Ontario Summer Games, Canada Games, and College and University matches) as well as receive invitations to officiate outside the province at the highest levels of volleyball competition.

Fantastic work Hollie! We look forward to seeing where you go from here!

A Note from Hollie:

"First and foremost, I need to thank my family who have been so supportive especially with a young family. Travelling and being away a lot is not an easy task and accomplishing this goal would have not been possible without them believing in me and their continuous support. In addition to my family, I have been lucky to have so much support and encouragement from many officials across the province and Canada. There are so many people to thank as this venture could not have been achieved alone. Key people who have had helped me along this journey are Andrew Robb, Jason Dodd, and Jennifer Adams. Andrew Robb was one of the 1st senior officials that I met when I first got my local badge and his unwavering support and encouragement have meant the world to me, and I am grateful for all that he has done in helping me reach this goal. Jason Dodd who has been the chair for both my RUP and NUP and helped me successfully achieve both badges. I am thankful for all the time and effort he has put into helping me make these goals a reality. Last but not least is Jennifer Adams who has been my mentor to me for years and especially during this NUP adventure. She has been a rock of support and encouragement through thick and thin. I can’t thank her enough for investing her time and energy and always believing in me. Her passion for mentoring is infectious and inspiring, and I am lucky to have had her as a mentor.

Thank you

Hollie"
