The Regional Council, along with Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) Staff, are excited to announce the creation of two new grants to help remove barriers to participate in volleyball in Ontario.

The Referee Uniform Rebate Program and the Club ONCA Compliance Rebate are new funding programs derived from the Regional Fund, which is managed by the Regional Council.

The Referee Uniform Rebate Program

This grant is being put in place, effective immediately, to assist new Level 1 (local) referees who have commenced their officiating journey during the 2023-2024 season. This fund will assist referees in obtaining the required uniform, thereby reducing the financial barriers of entry associated with becoming a referee.

The funding amount per successful applicant is up to $100 (depending on cost of uniform pieces ordered).

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. New Level 1 Indoor Referee or Level 1 Beach Referee as of the 2023-2024 season (September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2024).
  2. Successfully completed the referee course and fulfilled all necessary requirements as per the Referee Eligibility Policy.
  3. Registered as a PIA approved Level 1 Local Indoor Official or Level 1 Beach Referee in MRS.
  4. Actively refereeing for the OVA.
  5. Uploaded copy of receipt from Volleyball Canada store showing purchase of uniform (if the entire uniform package was not purchased, the Regional Fund will cover the cost as outlined on the receipt up to $100).

We appreciate your commitment to the sport and hope this allows for more referees to gain experience faster and help boost the stable of referees in the province.

If you meet the eligibility criteria outlined above, please fill out an application here.

Deadline for Applications is July 1, 2024.
