The OVA's Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place this past Sunday, December 2nd at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.  The purpose of the AGM is to inform the members and to deal with the usual business of the OVA, such as Report of Auditors and Elections.

The day started with a coach development session which was attended by approximately 40 coaches from across the province. The session was led by Reed Maltbie, from Changing the Game Project. This valuable hands on workshop focused on Chasing Everyday Excellence - Helping Athletes Develop Daily Peak Performance.

The morning was rounded off by a town hall session where the membership was invited to discuss Athlete Development, Coach Development and Youth Competition High Performance Streams. The OVA’s Director of High Performance, LP Mainville presented proposed changes to the athlete development and competitions programs before those in attendance broke out into groups to discuss the topics and provide specific feedback.

The afternoon session was full of informative presentations starting with Karen Bellehumeur from Elevation Group who spoke about the importance of Safe Sport initiatives and the OVA’s Person in Authority Code of Conduct. Capitis Consulting provided an update on the OVA project aimed at achieving better club alignment and improving support to its members and Breckles Insurance Brokers spoke about the OVA Drive Safe campaign. Region 6 spoke about the success of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) in the summer of 2018 and how they look forward to hosting again in Ottawa, June 7-9 2019.  The afternoon session finished off with the presentation of the OVA 2018 Annual Report.
