VNL is coming back to the Nation’s Capital

After an exciting debut last June, Men’s Volleyball Nations League will return to the Arena at TD Place in 2019.

Team Canada will go up against Australia, Germany and Serbia in Ottawa on week 2 (June 7 to 9) of the five-week pool play stage of the event.

“We are very excited to be coming back to Ottawa,” said Alan Ahac, Volleyball Canada’s director of international events. “The partnership we have with Region Six of the Ontario Volleyball Association and Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) worked very well to create a memorable weekend in 2018, and we’re looking forward to building on that fan experience.”

In addition to three days of top-level men’s volleyball, Volleyball Canada will also host its AGM and Hall of Fame inductions, and there will be an international coaching symposium held in conjunction with VNL weekend, among other events yet to be announced.

Canada finished seventh in the 2018 edition of Volleyball Nations League, just outside of the “final six” playoffs. Russia ended up winning the tournament after a thrilling final over the French team in Lille, France. In 2019, the finals will be held in the United States. The U.S. men’s team brought home the bronze medal last year.
