The OVA is pleased to announce that Henry Podstawkwa and Nivethan Nadarajah are our two newest Provincial Level Beach Referees.

Henry and Nivethan have met all the necessary requirements, passed their written tests, passed all their practical evaluations and satisfied their mentors. The OVA and especially the refereeing community are very proud of these two men for their accomplishment.

Niv was first exposed to beach volleyball refereeing as a volunteer minor official at the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games and Henry Podstawka's last name is synonymous with one of the more accomplished volleyball families in the country.

John Gillis, Beach Referees Chair, made a point of also thanking all the Beach Referees who helped them along the way:

"The Beach culture has always been one of helping each other out and always having our colleagues' backs and that is always very evident at our Beach tournaments when we have a group of Beach Referees gathered. I would like to offer very special thanks to Khan Vu and Cecil Clarke who spent many hours providing one-on-one mentoring to Henry and Niv this summer. In addition, Dimitri Magirias adjusted his scheduling throughout the summer to accommodate Henry, Niv, Cecil and Khan so they were scheduled to be at the same tournaments. Thank you Dimitri."

Henry and Niv will be working at Volleyball Canada's Beach National Championships this weekend at Ashbridges Bay - if you see them, please take a minute and congratulate them!
