Join Us in Shaping the Future of Volleyball in Ontario
As President of the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA), I’ve seen firsthand how powerful our community can be when we work together — athletes, coaches, referees, clubs, parents, and volunteers — all united by a love for the game.
Now, we’re inviting passionate leaders to help guide that community forward.
The OVA is opening nominations for our 2025–26 Board of Directors, and we’re looking for people who want to make a real impact to the future of the sport, across the province. Serving on the OVA Board isn’t just a title. It’s a chance to shape the future of one of Ontario’s fastest-growing sports.
Why Join the OVA Board?
You’ll help drive the strategic vision for volleyball in Ontario.
Volleyball continues to grow at an incredible pace — with over 1,200 teams registered in the 2023–24, marking a 23% year-over-year increase. Your leadership will help us plan for sustainable growth, stronger competition structures, and greater access to the sport across every region of Ontario.
You’ll collaborate with other passionate leaders who care deeply about the sport.
The OVA represents a thriving community of more than 15,000 athletes, 2,000+ coaches, 1,000 referees, and 90 member clubs. As a Board member, you’ll join an engaged group of professionals and volunteers who bring expertise from sport, business, education, and community development.
You’ll contribute to meaningful initiatives — from athlete development to inclusion and community outreach.
With nearly 7 in 10 Canadian youth (68%) participating in sport, we have a tremendous opportunity to ensure volleyball continues to be a space where young people feel supported, confident, and connected. Board members help shape the programs that make this possible — from grassroots to high performance.
You’ll advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion across the sport.
Volleyball is one of the most inclusive sports in Canada, with over 75% of OVA participants identifying as female, and a growing number of athletes, coaches and referees representing diverse cultural and community backgrounds. The OVA is also proud to lead nationally in Sitting Volleyball, providing opportunities for para-athletes to train and compete at community, provincial and post-secondary levels. As a Board member, you’ll play a key role in strengthening our commitment to equitable representation — ensuring that our leadership reflects the athletes and communities we serve.
You’ll help ensure our values guide every decision we make.
Everything we do is anchored in our six core values: Character, Community, Excellence, Inclusion, Fun, and Growth. These aren’t just words on paper — they define how we govern, compete, and treat each other as members of one volleyball family.
Your Opportunity to Lead
If you’re passionate about sport, community, and making a difference, this is your moment.
The Call for Nominations opens later this month, with applications due November 24, 2025, ahead of elections at our Annual General Meeting. Full details to apply are available on the Board Nominations page.
Let’s continue building something special together — a volleyball community that represents the best of Ontario: diverse, driven, and full of good vibes.
