The Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) is the official governing body for volleyball in Ontario. We deliver programs and events across the province that support athletes, coaches, referees, and clubs in both indoor, beach and sitting volleyball.
The OVA is seeking a creative and motivated Communications & Social Media Intern for Winter/Spring 2026. This role is designed for an Ontario-based university or college student passionate about sport, media, and storytelling.
As an intern, you will play a key role in supporting OVA’s digital media presence—from managing day-to-day social content to covering some of the biggest volleyball events in Canada, including:
This is a hands-on opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience in sport communications, social media management, and event coverage.
Assist with creating and scheduling content for OVA’s social media platforms (Instagram, Threads, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube).
Support content planning and updates on the OVAChamps app.
Cover OVA events (in-person and virtual) by capturing content and live updates.
Collaborate with OVA staff to brainstorm and execute creative campaigns.
Assist with communications deliverables leading up to and during Ontario Championships, the province’s largest amateur volleyball event.
Provide support for marketing and communications initiatives that highlight athlete stories, club news, and grassroots programs.
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Sport Management, Journalism, or related field).
Strong knowledge of major social media platforms and trends.
Creative thinker with excellent writing and editing skills.
Comfortable with photography, video capture, and basic editing tools (Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut or similar).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Passion for sport and an interest in volleyball is a strong asset.
Availability to attend major OVA events (Ontario Championships in Toronto is mandatory; other events as assigned).
Hands-on experience working with a provincial sport organization.
Practical skills in digital media strategy, event coverage, and sport communications.
Networking opportunities with athletes, coaches, referees, and professionals in the Ontario sport community.
Portfolio-building experience with content featured on high-visibility channels.
Mentorship and guidance from OVA’s communications and marketing staff.
