The Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) is proud to announce the release of two new programs that represent a significant step forward in supporting the professional development of coaches within the association.
Both of these programs were collaborative efforts between the Regional Coach Subcommittee and the OVA and are generously funded by the Regional Council.
The Mentorship Program is designed to connect coaches with experienced mentors. This initiative aims to address the needs of coaches seeking guidance in specific aspects of coaching.
The OVA will administer the mentorship program through its website, ensuring a seamless experience for both mentors and coaches. Prospective Mentors will submit their details to the OVA who will host mentor profiles for interested coaches to review and connect with mentors who meets their specific needs.
Once a mentorship partnership is established, the mentor will complete an online form detailing the coach's information, the mentorship plan, and the learning objectives. This form is a crucial step in formalizing the mentorship agreement and ensuring both parties are aligned on the goals and expectations.
For all other information including eligibility requirements, subsidy details and registration forms, please head over to our Coach Mentorship page.
The Coach Development Subsidy Program is aimed at supporting OVA clubs in the delivery of coach development activities. This initiative is designed to help clubs enhance the skills and knowledge of their coaches by providing financial assistance to cover approved expenses related to coach development events.
Clubs that organize and conduct coach development activities can now apply for funding to offset their costs. The program is open to all OVA-affiliated clubs that meet the eligibility criteria, and funding will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until all approved funds are exhausted.
Clubs can receive up to $1000 per event to cover approved expenses. The event must meet the following requirements:
For all additional information including application processes, please check out the Coach Development Subsidy tab on the Club Resources Page.
With these new coaching development opportunities and the funding involved, we anticipate some questions will arise that might be best placed in a public forum for everyone to gain further information.
The OVA hosted a Town Hall on Tuesday, January 28th to help assist in providing further clarity on the programs.
