2024 OVA AGM Recap

The 2024 Annual General Meeting of Members was held this past Sunday, December 8th, 2024 via Zoom.

This successful presentation of information included reporting on the past years events, the plan of action of the governance group, and elections for open Board of Directors positions.

Annual Report

During the meeting, highlights from the 2024 Annual Report were presented to the attendees.  

The highlights of the year statistically included double digit percentage growth in membership. This was boosted by a 21% increase in number of indoor competitions and 1082 teams competing at the Indoor Ontario Championships as well as 44% more team competing on Summer Beach Tour and 706 teams competing at Beach Ontario Championship's.

A high level of the OVA Financial Report was presented to the members, where a strong portfolio was presented with significant growth patterns and future planning were outlined.

Elections

This meeting of our members was also host to our Board of Directors Elections for the three (3) vacant positions. 

Sylvie  Laperriere and Margo Malowney were elected by acclamation as Director Regional Engagement and Director At Large respectively as they ran unopposed.

In the Presidential election, Howie Grossinger was named as the incumbent for a three (3) year term following the members vote. Howie moves into the  Presidential role after spending the last few years as Director At Large. 

"I appreciate the support of the membership and excited to be the OVA President for the next 3 years. I look forward to leading a dedicated group of volunteers on the Board of Directors and supporting the work of the OVA professional staff. My goal is to facilitate the continued growth of volleyball in Ontario by effectively working with all stakeholders in our Association." - Howie Grossinger

Congratulations to our new directors and thank you for committing your time to the governance of our sport.

We would also like to take this time to thank outgoing President Katie Hutchinson and outgoing Director At Large Danny Gosselin for their excellent contributions over the past few years.
