OVA Releases Host Bid Application and Manual for OC's 2027 and 2028

Ontario Volleyball looking for Championship Host Cities for 2027 & 2028

Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) is officially launching the search for Host(s) for the 2027 and 2028 Ontario Championship (OC) Tournaments with the release of the Bid Application and Bid Manual.

Since inception in 2008, when the first festival-style OC event was introduced at RIM Park Financial Sportsplex in Waterloo, the Championships have provided an opportunity for all athletes and teams from across the province to compete on the provincial stage, under one roof.

Through the past 16 years, the OVA has seen an incredible increase of over 920 teams. Today, over 45,000 athletes, coaches, officials, organizers, volunteers, and spectators participate in 15 events spread across as many as four (4) weekends in various host cities.

In total, the event will require over 15,500+ hotel room nights and will have an over $21 million economic impact on the host community (if hosted in one city).

The OVA is seeking proposals to host its season culminating championship events for 2027 and 2028. They will host girls and boys tournaments is the following age divisions:

  • 4v4 Rallyball*
  • 6v6 Rallyball*
  • Traditional Limited-Specialized (TLS)*
  • 15U
  • 16U
  • 17U
  • 18U

Pertinent bid details:

Event Length
  • Each gender/age will compete in 2-day (4v4 and 6v6) or 3-day tournament formats 
  • Tournaments can be combined into single events based on registration numbers and venue capacity (in 2024, 18U Boys and 18U Girls competed in separate tournaments within the same event)
  • These can be played back-to-back (2 events, 6-days straight) from Thursday to Tuesday or as stand-alone events from Friday to Sunday.
Venue requirements:
  • Minimum 30-feet ceilings
  • Column-free space or columns spaced 90 feet apart
  • At least 8 storage areas for 100 equipment storage crates
  • 10+ meeting rooms or ballrooms
  • Ample parking
Estimated number of attendees:
  • 7,000-45,000 depending on size of venue and number of teams participating
  • Attendees will require 15,000+ room nights over the course of the month (if hosted in one city)
Important Dates:
  • Deadline to declare Intent to Bid: October 4th, 2024, by 11:59pm
  • Deadline for Full Bid packages: November 22nd, 2024, by 5:00pm
  • Event Dates: The month of April 2027 and 2028
