The Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) is saddened to have learned of the passing of an Ontario volleyball legend, Mary Macdonald.

Inducted into the OVA Hall of Fame in 2022 as part of the Toronto V-Club, Mary was one of the most talented Canadian athletes of her time, winning five national championship titles with the club. At the 1962 American National Volleyball Championships she became the first foreigner to receive an All Star honour. Two years later, Mary achieved an incredible unmatched feat of earning the MVP at both the Canadian Volleyball and Basketball National Championships.

With the Canadian national volleyball team, Mary won a bronze medal at the 1967 Pan American Games.  Four years earlier, she competed at the '59 Pan American Games in Chicago on the basketball team. After her career as an elite athlete was over Mary continued to dedicate herself to the athletics, working as a Physical Health Education teacher.

Mary has been inducted into the Volleyball Canada and BC Hall of Fames, the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame and the University of Toronto Hall  of Fame for which she competed on the archery and basketball teams.
