The Annual General Meeting (AGM) brought together the Ontario Volleyball Association membership and community at large to celebrate and inform the membership on the recent fiscal year and to elect new members to the OVA Board of Directors.

At the AGM, members approved the minutes of 2022’s Annual General Meeting and accepted the OVA's Financial Statements year ending August  31, 2023 with  MacNeill Edmundson being approved to remain as auditor.

The past year was reflected on in the annual recap video and presentation of the 2023 OVA Annual Report.

New Board Members Elected

The OVA also welcomed two new members to the Board of Directors. We would like to congratulate and welcome Paul Bonfigli (Vice President - Secretary/Administration) and Andrew Nichols (Director at Large) to Board.

Both Paul and Andrew's relevant experience is included in their nominations package.

Paul Bonfigli

"I’ve been fortunate to be able to serve this Association since 2021 as a member of the Board’s Governance Committee, and I look forward to the challenge of expanding upon that work as the VP / Administration. My objective is to continue to promote an accountable and transparent Association in which you – the membership – can have complete confidence.”

Andrew Nichols

"While I did not growing up playing the sport of volleyball, it has become an overwhelming family love since 2017 when our son started playing for the Aurora Storm club.  Since then, AJ (our son) has grown to be a member of the University of Waterloo men’s team and our daughter too (now 15) plays for Leaside Volleyball Club as a member of the 17U Bolts team as well as having played for Team Ontario Red this past summer.

I think what I'm most excited about, in regards to my role on the board, is to take my prior experiences and lend them self to the growth of the sport in Ontario.  I look forward to supporting the staff, my fellow board members and the entire OVA family over the next three years and beyond."

The OVA would also like to thank our outgoing board members, Daphne Choi (Vice President - Secretary/Administration) and Kelsey Orth (Director at Large) for their dedicated years of service and contributions during their tenures on the Board.  We know their ongoing dedication to “Volleyball For Life” will continue and the OVA is thankful for their collaboration with the staff and membership to continually develop our sport.

The current OVA Board of Directors after the 2023 AGM:

President - Katie Hutchinson
Vice President, Finance/Treasurer - Christine Cook
Vice President, Secretary/Administration - Paul Bonfigli
Director at Large - Howie Grossiner
Director at Large - Leigh Pearson
Director at Large - Michael Amoroso
Director at Large - Andrew Nichols
Athletes Representative - Victoria Altomare

2023 was a remarkable rebound for the OVA and it's membership as we saw record participation with competitions across the board, from indoor to beach.  We will carry this momentum forward into the new year with our continued promise to grow the sport and support the development of coaches, referees and clubs.
