Job Opportunity - Athlete Development Coordinator - Ontario Volleyball Association

The Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) is looking to hire an Athlete Development Coordinator. The full-time position encompasses a broad range of tasks and responsibilities around the planning and implementation of indoor volleyball Team Ontario programs.  This role is the main contact point for athletes and coaches involved in indoor athlete development initiatives and is therefore key in supporting the OVA’s goal of providing high quality, athlete-centered programs.

Location: 60 Scarsdale Rd, Unit 111, Toronto, ON
Supervisor’s Title: Director of Athlete Development
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

Team Ontario Program Coordination 

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver the Team Ontario indoor programs year-round including Team Ontario White/Red/Black & Canada Games
  • Manage the Team Ontario Elite program 
  • Work with the Beach  Athlete Development Coordinator to plan and deliver the OVA’s integrated programs (Regional Program and Tall Maples) 
  • Provide on-site support to athletes and coaches during training camps and be the onsite liaison to participants and the Facility Operation staff 
  • Contribute to Team Ontario’s social media sites, bulletins, websites and other media forms as requested 

 

Athlete Development Pathway 

  • Promote the athlete development programs through the OVA website and social media by creating information packages as well as player and coach profiles 
  • Devise and implement athlete identification and recruitment strategies, across all regions in the province  
  • Support Athlete Development Director in identification of coaches for athlete development programs 
  • Keep track of Team Ontario coach information including the collection of all screening documents as per the OVA Screening Policy  
  • Assume a role on committees related to athlete development 

 

Sitting, Grassroots and Club Support 

  • Along with ParaSport Ontario and other funding partners, support the implementation of sitting athlete and coach development programs with the intention of creating a sitting provincial pathway to the National Team.  
  • As required, assist the planning and execution of grassroots and community outreach events and programs including; SPIKES, newcomers programs; the Active Community Engagement (ACE) program; Indigenous Volleyball programs, etc. 
  • Support the Indoor Program Coordinator with club support initiatives to establish positive relationships with members of the OVA and participate in the promotion of club development practices in Ontario. 

 

Other Responsibilities 

  • Undertake various projects and tasks as assigned 
  • Act as a liaison between program committees as required 
  • Respond to members inquiries in a timely manner 
  • Serve as an OVA ambassador 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A college or university degree 
  • Interest for project management and high performance sports 
  • Understanding of basic athlete development principles and how they apply to volleyball specifically 
  • Reliable, self-motivated, hard working individual 
  • Self initiator/proactive and ability to propose solutions to problems 
  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic team 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Excellent customer service 
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and managing a large database 
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekend and extended hours as required  
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening & Police Screening Check (can be obtained upon employment)  
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekend and extended hours as required  
  • Travel is necessary so personal car and valid driver’s license required
