Are you passionate about volleyball? Do you want to be part of helping create and review new initiatives about the development of indoor volleyball for Ontario? Then the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) wants you!
The OVA is looking to fill multiple one-year term positions on two newly created subcommittees focusing on youth development strategies and implementation at the Regional level. The Indoor Volleyball Development Council and the Regional Coach Development Subcommittee.
The OVA is committed to encouraging diversity, inclusion, equity and access in its administration, policies, programs, and activities. Per its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy, the OVA will work to provide under represented groups with an equitable range of opportunities to participate on this committee.
All members must comply with the OVA Screening Policy and the OVA Conflict of Interest Policy.

The Indoor Volleyball Development Council (IVDC) is a subcommittee of the Regional Council.
The IVDC’s purpose is to review initiatives about the development of indoor volleyball and to provide operational and strategic advice in areas such as, but not limited to:
The IVDC will comprise a minimum of 7 and no more than 9 appointed members, plus the following ex officio members:
OVA staff members and the Athletes’ Representative are non-voting members.
Desired skills and experiences of appointees include, but are not limited to, the following:
The selection of members will also consider geographic representation.
Members are appointed for one-year terms, which are renewable at the discretion of the Director, of Regional Engagement.
Key areas of responsibility include:

The Regional Coach Development Subcommittee (RCDS) is a subcommittee of the Regional Council.
The RCDS’s purpose is to develop, review and implement non-NCCP regional coach development activities for the coaches of the six OVA regions.
The RCDS will be composed of a minimum of 3 and no more than 6 appointees. In addition, the OVA Athlete Development Director is an ex officio, non-voting member.
The Director of Regional Engagement will appoint the RCDS members, and may either act as the RCDS Chair or designate one of the appointees to act as Chair.

The overall role of the Regions is to collaborate and cooperate to help grow the sport of volleyball in Ontario by integrating the OVA’s strategic plan into programs and drawing on the expertise within the Regions to strengthen programming.
As each Region may have unique situations and environments that require attention and can enhance different aspects of the integration of OVA’s strategic plan, there needs to be a strong partnership with the Regions to realize the OVA’s vision to provide a fun, safe and rewarding environment through a commitment to Volleyball for Life.
The Regional Council act as an advisory body to the Ontario Volleyball Association’s Board of Directors and OVA management with respect to regional issues of significance. They ensure that the Board and OVA management understand regional issues, and ensure that the Regions understand the Board and OVA management’s perspectives; and ensure effective sharing of information within individual Regions and between the Regions, the Board, and OVA management.
