Job Opportunity: Men's Volleyball Head Coach (Sheridan College)

Reporting to the Athletic Director and working directly with the supervision of the Varsity Coordinator, the Head Coach is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum to best prepare student athletes to succeed within the Ontario College Athletic Association (OCAA). The position requires extensive collaboration with members of the Athletic Department to ensure appropriate level of services and support is provided to the varsity athletes.

The Sheridan College varsity volleyball program operates out of the Oakville (Trafalgar) campus, but involves student athletes from all three campuses. Exhibition games, tournaments and league games will occur around the province and the Head Coach must be prepared to travel on weeknights and overnight on weekends with the team.

The competitive OCAA season begins in November and runs until early May, however it is expected that training will occur in the fall and winter and even summer along with recruiting during the offseason.

The Head Coach will be responsible for recruiting, training and supervision of assistant coaches as needed. Compensation will be in accordance with the College Payroll Grid.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and actively recruit student athletes to appropriate Sheridan academic programs.
  • Support student athletes for their academic and athletic performance while buying into the Sheridan Athletics mantra – Study. Compete. Graduate. Succeed.
  • Organize and execute competitions and activities to profile Sheridan College and Sheridan Athletics.
  • Supervise the team at all times throughout all practices, games, and road trips at all times while representing Sheridan and abiding by Sheridan Athletics.
  • Maintain a degree of professionalism, acting as an ambassador representing the team and college to enhance the image of the college and program.

Qualifications

  • NCCP certifications considered an asset.
  • Proven relationships with high school and club volleyball coaches considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a high caliber of leadership, sportsmanship, and coaching performance.
