Job Opportunity: Head Coach, Beach Women's Next Gen Team (Volleyball Canada)

The Beach Women’s Next Gen Head Coach is based in Toronto at the Volleyball Canada Beach High Performance Centre (HPC) located in Downsview Park and under the direction of the Beach High Performance Director and in collaboration with the Beach High Performance Manager, is responsible for assisting with the leadership, development and preparation of the Beach Women’s Next Gen and Summer Program athletes and coaches with a goal of producing international competitive excellence. Responsibilities

  1. Deliver a detailed High Performance Plan that is evaluated by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the following high performance areas for Next Gen and Summer Program Athletes: i
    1. Athlete Development
    2. Coach Development
    3. Competition
    4. Sport science and sport medicine
    5. Daily training environment
    6. Management
    7. Strength and Conditioning
  2. Lead in:
    1. Planning, implementing and monitoring a training program for high-performance beach athlete development on a yearly/quadrennial basis using Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles.
    2. Planning, implementing and monitoring team and individual training programs on a weekly and day to day basis.
    3. Planning, implementing and monitoring a competition program based on the national/international beach competition calendars.
    4. Ensuring an international performance and results focus incorporating leading edge initiatives and measurable KPI’s.
  3. In partnership with the Canadian Sports Institute of Ontario (CSIO), assist with the integration of appropriate sport science and medicine services (IST).
  4. Assist in the identification and recruitment of beach athletes with international potential.
  5. Assist in leading, coordinating, developing and mentoring the ‘Personal Team Coaches’ (PTC) of the Beach NextGen Team and Summer Program Team athletes.
  6. Coach selected teams at international beach competitions as required.
  7. Serve as the Canadian Team Leader at major international beach volleyball competitions as required including however not limited to the Youth Olympic Games, FIVB U21/U19 World Championships and FISU events.
  8. Liaise and communicate with parents, Region Training Centres (RTC’s), PTC’s and other stakeholders (U Sport/CCAA/NCAA, IST members, Provincial/Territorial Associations, etc.) on competition, training and program activities as appropriate.
  9. Assist in the preparation of annual progress reports on the performance of the Beach NextGen Team and Summer Program athletes using testing and statistical data.
  10. Acting in an advisory role to assist administrative staff in the effective delivery/management of program logistics.
  11. Supervision of the Beach High Performance Centre facility and ensuring that all facility rules are enforced. Other duties as assigned by Volleyball Canada.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Beach Volleyball.
  • Ability to work in Canada.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all stakeholders in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with athletes in person, as well as in virtual environments.
  • NCCP Performance Coach Certification or equivalent related experiences.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience athlete development or a related discipline.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
