Tryouts Approaching for 2023 North American Indigenous Games

The North American Indigenous Games are coming to Halifax in Summer 2023 and tryouts for Team Ontario athletes are starting this October. 

Volleyball and Beach Volleyball will be showcased at the Games and Indigenous youths residing in Ontario (First Nations, Metis, Inuit) are encouraged to attend the tryouts occurring across the province. The Games' competitions are open for the 19U (born 2004, 2005, 2006) and 16U (born 2007 & 2008) age categories.

Tryouts for beach volleyball are offered at the following:

Kenora + Sioux Lookout

January 27-29, 2023

Athletes are to register through the Indigenous Sport and Wellness of Ontario (ISWO) online portal

The registration fee is $35 per tryout. Athletes can follow along for updates from ISWO on their website and social media platforms. Any inquiries about the tryout process and Games can be addressed at team.ontario@iswo.ca.

About the NAIG

The North American Indigenous Games is a multi-competition sports event that occurs every four years.  The 10th North American Indigenous Games will be held from July 15-23, 2023 in Nova Scotia, Canada. It will host competitions in 16 sports within 21 venues across Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Dartmouth and Millbrook First Nation.

The North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) 2023 will bring together more than 5,000 athletes, coaches and team staff from 756+ Indigenous Nations celebrating, sharing and reconnecting through sport and culture with the help of 3,000 volunteers.
