As we work though this lockdown and plan for our return after January 26, it is safe to say we are not able to count on school boards opening for weekend tournament permits and we are concerned that we will not be back in a place where we can run events. Additionally, we have lost venues due to the pandemic regulations for end of January onwards. Without the access to school boards, we are short approximately 117 venues to run our standard form of competition from January 28 – April 3. With this severe venue shortage, we are forced to pivot once again.
Major changes to the plan including new calendar dates for certain age groups, removing single day tournaments for the younger divisions due to lost permits, cancelling the January 29/30 18UB McGregor Cup and 4v4 Girls Challenge Cup and pushing back the Niagara Falls Convention Centre 16U Challenge Cup by two-weeks with the hopes that Ontario will be back into a modified Step 3 regulations of its Re-Opening Ontario plan. Additionally, the OVA will be pushing back the Ontario Championships registration deadline to February 14, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. and hotel booking process will begin February 15, 2022.
