Multiple Public Health Units (PHUs) from across the province have made announcements to their region’s indoor facility operators that full proof of vaccination will be required from all individuals upon entry at sport and recreation venues.

The PHUs listed in the table below will be requiring anyone aged 12 and older participating in indoor organized sport to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated, unless a medical exemption applies. This includes players, coaches, referees and volunteers.

Please see the table below for when these requirements are in effect and the details which are outlined in the full announcements.

If you are a permit holder at a facility in the PHU mentioned, please confirm your facility’s entry requirements for vaccinations, identification, exemptions and/or grace periods to become fully vaccinated.

Inquiries regarding the announcement and enforcement can be made to your local Public Health Unit if you are in a region that has mandated these additional regulations.

The Government’s Reopening Ontario Act currently does not require those aged 12-17 who actively participate in organized sports to be fully vaccinated; however, PHUs have stated that they will continue to monitor the situation and adjust as needed.

Although the OVA does not have a mandatory vaccination policy, the OVA strongly encourages all members to be fully vaccinated as soon as possible to assist with a safe return to sport. Additionally, anyone using a facility that requires proof of full vaccination must comply with facility or PHU regulations, or they will not be granted entry.

To learn about what documents can be used for proof of identification and vaccination and what Clubs can and cannot collect regarding vaccinations, please review the latest OVA FAQ from the September 20 Town Hall.
