Finding drills that meet the needs of the players is an everyday challenge for coaches and this is why the OVA is launching a new Drill Design program.
This program was built based on the work done by Team Ontario mentor coaches who saw a need for more access to quality drill planning training. The series of workshops offered this fall is meant to help club coaches develop an effective process for the design of drills that align seamlessly with their learning objectives.
The sessions will be facilitated by some of the best coaches and coach developers in Ontario over 4 consecutive weeks. Participants will have the choice between a Sunday or Monday evening session.
Through the workshops, participating coaches will:
The workshops will be very interactive. During each 2-hour session, groups of 6 participants will work with a learning facilitator through a series of activities that will lead to the design of high-quality drill. Each session will have a different theme in order to let coaches practice their drill design skills around various aspects of the game:
Week 1: In-system setting & attacking
Week 2: Block & defence
Week 3: Serve & serve-reception
Week 4: Out-of-system setting & attacking
*All participants will receive 3 PD points towards the maintenance of their NCCP certification
