As of August 16, 2021 OVA Club Tryouts and Athlete Application process have begun and clubs may begin to host tryouts for the upcoming 2021-22 indoor season. All OVA Return to Play protocols must be followed when running on-court tryouts.

Prior to attending tryouts, athletes must register in the Membership Registration System (MRS). Please read our previous article that explains the requirements for new and returning athletes. Athletes must verify at their club’s tryouts that they have completed their membership in the OVA MRS through a physical receipt (printed) or through their smartphone upon check-in at their tryout.

Clubs are not permitted to send any offers to athletes who attend tryouts or apply using the OVA application form until the specified time period for each age division or grouping. All offers that are sent must be honoured for 36 hours or until the date and time indicated on the offer form. Offer forms must include the Club Name, Head Coach, Team Name, Age Division or Grouping* and Expected Base Club Fee.

Date Age Division/Grouping
September 22, 2021 19/18U offers can be emailed
September 23, 2021 17U offers can be emailed
September 24, 2021 16U offers can be emailed
September 25, 2021 15U offers can be emailed
September 26, 2021 Traditional Non-Specialized (formally 14U)  offers can be emailed to Athletes
September 27, 2021 Rallyball (formerly 13U) offers can be emailed to Athletes

Clubs can run additional tryouts to fill any open positions on their rosters.

*Age Grouping: refers to a training cohort which focuses on an athlete’s skill level rather than age. The new OVA Competition structure (Early CONTACT) allows for multiple birth years to train and compete together. Example: A club may have 11U-13U athletes training and competing as a team

Club preparation

To help clubs navigate the indoor season preparation, we have made an administrative checklist. The checklist covers Tryouts, the start of September and ongoing tasks leading up to the start of the season. Detailed notes on screening and MRS registration is included in the document as well.
