A reminder to OVA clubs that the month of August is crucial for the Tryout Window Policy with the rapid succession of items to be completed.

Beginning Friday, August 6 the Summer Offer Period opens for athletes who have been actively training and/or participating in a new club’s programming prior to August 6 and have chosen to commit with that club. Between August 6 and 8, clubs can send offers to the athletes who have indicated through written consent that they would like to play for them in the upcoming season. Any verbal commitment is non-binding and will not be accepted – it must be written (i.e. email) and must also be athlete-driven. Clubs cannot send unsolicited offers to the athlete. Athletes must have sent an expression of interest to the club they have been training with.

Please read the OVA 2021-22 Tryout Window Policy for full details. Early Re-Signing Period forms can be found on the Club Tryouts webpage.

On Sunday, August 8 the deadline for all early re-signings and offers for all age divisions closes. Clubs are to send their list of re-signed athletes to the OVA by Tuesday, August 10. Lists are to be submitted through FormStack on the Club Tryouts page on the OVA website. Athletes’ age division and position must be included in the list. If clubs do not report their re-signed athletes, sanctions will be distributed.

After all athletes have been re-signed through the various offer periods, clubs may begin posting open spots that are available on their rosters on Friday, August 13. Through a live table on the Club Tryouts page, clubs can advertise and encourage applications for their positions needed. When filling out the table, clubs are to include:

  • Club name
  • Club Region and location (as listed in MRS)
  • Coaching staff
  • Age division or grouping*
  • Position(s)
  • Number of positions available on each team

*Age Grouping: refers to a training cohort which focuses on an athlete’s skill level rather than age. The new OVA Competition structure (Early CONTACT) allows for multiple birth years to train and compete together. Example: A club may have 11U-13U athletes training and competing as a team.

For a breakdown of these dates, please look at the table below.

Date Action Item
