The 2020 Olympics will be held from July 23 to August 8 in Tokyo, Japan with volleyball represented in both indoor and beach competitions. The Men's National indoor team will represent Canada in the tournament which begins on Saturday, July 24 at the Ariake Arena. Placed in Pool A with Iran, Italy, Japan, Poland and Venezuela, indoor volleyball will begin with preliminary rounds until Tuesday, August 3 when quarterfinals begin. The Men's tournament will finish on Saturday, August 7 with Bronze and Gold medal matches.
On the sand, Sarah Pavan & Melissa Humana-Paredes and Heather Bansley & Brandie Wilkerson will compete for Canada in beach volleyball tournament at Shiokaze Park, which also begins on July 24 with preliminary pool play. Pavan/Melissa, the #1 ranked team in the Olympic Rankings are seeded in Pool A with Germany, the Netherlands, Russia and Switzerland. Bansley/Brandie are in Pool C alongside Argentina, Brazil, China. The Round of 16 matches will succeed preliminaries on Sunday, August 1 which will be followed by Quarterfinals on Tuesday, August 3. The Women's medal matches will conclude on Friday, August 6.
