On March 17, 2021, the Ontario Government announced $3.6 million for 63 recognized Provincial Sport Organizations to support their member community sport clubs who provide access to sports.  This funding must be distributed by July 15, 2021 and the amounts distributed to the Clubs have to be reported back to the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries by July 31, 2021.

The OVA has been given funding of $112,500 from the Ministry that will be distributed to OVA Clubs that were registered for the 2020-2021 season.  This funding is to help OVA registered Clubs cover the additional costs of running sport programs during the pandemic.  Due to the timelines assigned by the Ministry, this funding will only apply to OVA member Clubs for their operations over the 2020-2021 season.

The funding amount per Club will be a total of the following:

• $500 per OVA Registered Club plus;
• $50 per Club coach registered in MRS plus;
• The balance of funds will be prorated based on the number of active Club athletes that are registered in MRS.

The amounts calculated for OVA registered members will be based on active Club members in the OVA MRS database by May 31, 2021. Coaches must have paid a full OVA membership and athletes must be at least registered as a recreational player membership type in MRS.

Please note:  Members do not show as belonging to a club in MRS until they are assigned to a team. The cutoff date to have Club members assigned to your teams in MRS is the application deadline of May 31, 2021.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Registered Club with the OVA for the 2020-21 season in MRS.
2. Club’s OVA Return to Play Acknowledgement Form is on file with the OVA office.
3. Club has a COVID-19 Operation plan in place and it is posted on the Club website.
4. The Club’s Returning Club Form is fully completed in MRS.
5. All Club Executive included on the Returning Club Form in MRS must meet OVA screening requirements (i.e. PRC/VSS date within the last 3 years and current season OVA Screening Disclosure Form signed).
6. All Club Coaches must be included on the Returning Club Form in MRS and must meet screening requirements (i.e. PRC/VSS date within the last 3 years and current season OVA Screening Disclosure Form signed).
7. All Club Coaches must be in compliance with the 2021 OVA Coach Eligibility.
8. All OVA member athletes and team staff are assigned to the appropriate Club teams in MRS to ensure proper distribution of funding to each Club.
