With the latest Government of Ontario COVID-19 pandemic update, Toronto and Peel Public Health Unit communities moved into the Lockdown (Grey) zone of the province’s COVID-19 Response Framework, while other communities have been shifted to the Protect (Yellow) or Restrict (Orange) zones. For a full listing of where your community sites on the tiered system, please click here.

For communities that have entered the Lockdown (Grey) zone, the Government has indicated that sport and recreational fitness facilities will be closed with the exception for high performance and professional athletes for 28 days. Please note, OVA Club athletes are not defined as high performance based on Government regulations. High Performance athletes are those on the Olympic pathway that are competing in the next Olympic cycle.

Much like when the initial phase of the pandemic lock down began back in March, clubs in Lockdown (Grey) communities who continue training  can run programs via the internet or via other social media platforms that follow the social distancing guidelines recommended by Public Health Ontario

Clubs that have been moved into the Control (Red) zone are to abide by the OVA’s Stage 2 Return to Play Protocols (Indoor Version 1.2). A webinar regarding drills that clubs in the Control (Red) zone can incorporate into their training will take place on November 26 at 8:00 p.m. via Zoom. The link to this meeting for registration can be accessed here:

Clubs in the Prevent (Green) to Restrict (Orange) follow the OVA’s Stage 3.0 Indoor Return to Play Protocols. All Return to Play guidelines can be found here: www.ontariovolleyball.org/ova-return-to-play

These recent community changes is certainly disappointing news for all clubs, athletes and parents affected, however we must all do our part in curbing the spread of COVID-19 by following Government and Public Health regulation. Please keep connected and engaged with your teams during these unprecedented times to focus on the collective goal of health, safety and mental health well being, while remaining engaged with your team.
