As a follow up to Premier Ford’s announcement on Monday June 8,  we can confirm the next requirements of the OVA before outdoor volleyball can begin at any venue in Ontario:

  1. Clarity on the Emergency Management and Civil Protections Act. As announced Monday by Premier Ford, training programs for outdoor team sports for up to 10 people can begin as of June 12, 2020 at 12:01am in approved municipalities in Stage 2 as per the Emergency Management orders. No programming is allowed in stage 1 municipalities until changes are passed by the Government.
  2. Return to Play protocols are complete and approved. Ontario Volleyball is working diligently on these drafts, but still requires review by public health and approval by the OVA Board of Directors for each phase of the Provincial Reopening Plan.  At this time, the OVA is looking to get the Beach Volleyball training plan approved this week to fall in line with Premier Fords announcement Monday of allowing outdoor team sports training by Friday June 12.

To be clear, outdoor volleyball cannot take place at any municipal or private facility in Ontario until these two requirements are completed.

We understand that everyone is anxious to get started and may be feeling frustrated by the lack of more exact information at this time. You have our continued commitment to keeping you up to date every step of the way as information becomes available to us. Unfortunately, Ontario Volleyball is learning of re-opening plans at the same time as you. Thus, we are doing our best to ensure we are ready at each stage of reopening.

We look forward to working with you on a measured and safe return to our sport.
