We always knew the Ontario volleyball community was amazing, but today we have 15,000 more reasons to be proud of you all. Thanks to the incredible volleyball community and our partners at Canuckstuff, the OVA Cares initiative raised $15,000 to benefit the Feed Ontario food bank network from the online sales of TO2020 merchandise.

“As our first initiative with the OVA Cares program we are incredibly proud our community supported such a meaningful cause in Feed Ontario,” commented Jo-Anne Ljubicic, Executive Director of the Ontario Volleyball Association. “To say we are disappointed that we couldn’t deliver Ontario Championships at Enercare Centre in Toronto this past April is an understatement but being able to find a positive outcome for those in need is so heartwarming. The impact our volleyball community has away from the court is incredible. We are humbled to do our part by helping put meals on the tables of those who have fallen on hard times.”

Without great partners the OVA would not be where we are today, so we want to recognize and thank Canuck Stuff for their ability to turn the frowns from the cancelled Ontario Championships upside down with the merchandise sale. A long-time financial supporter of the Ontario Volleyball Association, Canuckstuff has been a staple at Ontario Volleyball events and were as disappointed as the players not to see everyone at Enecare Centre. When the opportunity to partner on the OVA Cares initiative was presented, they dove in headfirst and served up an ace under pressure.

"Canuckstuff is proud to be part of the OVA Cares initiative and donate to such a worthy cause,” said Mark Heese, General Manager of Canuck Stuff and long-time volleyball community member. “Although we would have preferred to sell the merchandise in person at Ontario Championships, we are happy that despite the cancellation of the event, we were still able to connect with the volleyball community with a great product and in such a heart-warming way. There will be a lot of food put on the table from this project and Canuckstuff is so pleased to be part of the OVA volleyball family!"

So, from the bottom of our OVA Cares hearts, THANK YOU to everyone who supported this initiative and please continue being awesome and please stay safe in your communities during these challenging times.

Sincerely,

OVA Cares
