Letters of Good Standing for Non-Sanctioned Events in North America

By Ontario Volleyball, 12/19/19, 3:45PM EST

Volleyball Canada has confirmed that its members can participate in volleyball events that fall within the NORCECA zone (including the U.S.A.) that are not sanctioned by USA Volleyball (USAV). Letters of Good standing will then be required to participate in USAV sanctioned and non-sanctioned events. Teams will have to self-insure when outside of their respective country as well as exercising appropriate care from risk management and safe sport perspectives.

They can be issued for teams and individuals (i.e. players, athletes, coaches, referees, team managers and team contacts) and are valid for the entire competition season, expiring on August 31st. Letters of Good Standing are included as part of Volleyball Canada’s annual membership fee; however, should a request be received in less than five business days of the deadline, a $10 administrative fee plus applicable taxes will be charged.

A Letter of Good Standing can be requested through the OVA. Once confirmed at the provincial level, the request will be forwarded to Volleyball Canada who will issue an official signed letter to the individual/organization who made the request.

Junior Volleyball Association

For Junior Volleyball Association (JVA) events, four procedures have been developed in order to participate:

  1. Canadian teams must use AES to register for the event.
  2. Teams must have a Letter of Good Standing from Volleyball Canada and have paid the entry fee.
  3. Rosters must be uploaded into AES by the posted deadline (will vary based on event).
  4. All rostered adults must provide proof of: a clear Canadian Police Check within two years and completion of “Making Ethical Decisions”. Documents can be sent to the JVA Tournament Coordinator. If the documents listed aren’t available, all rostered adults must apply for a Canadian background screening through NCSI and complete the JVA Abuse Prevention Training (For $80 and $5, respectively).
