Why is it important to Stay and Play at the 2020 Ontario Championships?

As a non-profit organization, the OVA strives to provide all members with an exceptional event experience. 

For the 2020 Championship, the OVA has worked closely with our partners, Tourism Toronto and Hudson Travel Group (HTG) to find a variety of hotels and rates to meet your needs for your team to enjoy the inaugural Ontario Championship in Toronto. Because of these incredible partnerships, there is the opportunity to host the Ontario Championships at an international calibre venue with the most teams under one roof with 56 courts in action.  The Stay and Play program provides OVA members with value hotel bookings, (guaranteed price integrity by HTG), and significantly reduced competition venue rental costs.  To keep utilizing these superior facilities, the Stay and Play program is necessary to access the financial incentives from City and Tourism groups.   

Within the 100kms, should I consider staying close to the venue?

Want to avoid the daily traffic grind or unknown weather issues in April and create a team bonding atmosphere? Stay at one of the host hotels through HTG and Tourism Toronto.

Are you over the 100km radius and want to file an exemption request? 

If you are required to participate in the Stay and Play program, please be reminded the exemption is for individuals who can demonstrate a hardship as it relates to the championship. Exemptions will be granted on a case by case basis with the proper demonstration of need. It is important our athletes have a positive experience and Toronto traffic can be unpredictable. In many cases, when you factor in many of these additional expenses, the cost can become a wash with a little extra planning on the front end of your visit.

Are you finding a different rate online than what is posted on the HTG preview and booking site?

Take the following steps and let HTG know. You can email Melanie at melanie@htgsports.com to report a discrepancy:

1. First, be sure you are comparing apples to apple and the packages are the same.
   1. Check room rates, room size, beds, free breakfast, parking, wi-fi, etc., as it compares to the HTG booking site.  
2. Secondly, be sure to screenshot or PDF proof of the discrepancy so HTG can verify the inquiry and act quickly to rectify the inconsistency. 
3. Finally, if you still see a different rate, let HTG know and they will investigate their integrity pricing through the hotel. HTG has a team in place to track and verify registered teams at the Ontario Championships to ensure the teams are following the stay and play policy and we want to make sure perceived higher rates is not a limiting factor in booking.

It is our intent to ensure our members are getting the best rates and a positive experience while staying in Toronto for this incredible and historic event.
