OVA Announces Coaches for 2021 Canada Summer Games

TORONTO, ON (October 22, 2019) - The OVA is pleased to present the 2021 Canada Games Coaching Staff for Ontario’s indoor volleyball teams. The assistant coaches were selected in early October following a thorough selection process. The OVA is proud of this group of highly knowledgeable, experienced and passionate coaches that will represent Ontario at the Canada Summer Games taking place in Niagara in 2021.

Boys Programs

Frank St-Denis - Head Coach

St-Denis is the technical director for the Maverick Volleyball Club in Ottawa. A certified Performance Coach, Frank has more than 15 years of experience coaching at the club and high school level. Over the years, he has developed unmatched program design skills that have earned him a position as a Junior National Team assistant coach in 2016 and 2017.

Danny Gosselin - Assistant Coach

Danny Gosselin is the current Coaching Director of Vision Volleyball Club in North Bay as well as the Head Coach of their 15U program. Danny was part of the 2013 Canada Summer Games staff as an Assistant Coach and was the Mentor Coach for the Team Ontario White Girls program in 2019.

Matthew Ragogna - Assistant Coach

Current Head Coach of the Brock Badgers Men’s program in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA). Former varsity athlete and Academic-All Canadian; Matt was the Head Coach of the Team Ontario Red program in 2019.

Girls Programs

Jimmy El-Turk - Head Coach

El-Turk is the current Head Coach of the St-Clair College women’s program. This past summer, Jimmy travelled to the FIVB Volleyball Girls U18 World Championship as an Assistant Coach for the Canadian Youth National team.  He has been part of the Team Ontario program for many years and has been involved in the new Athlete Identification Process since its inception in 2016.

Matthew Schnarr - Assistant Coach

Schnarr is the current Head Coach of the Mohawk College Women’s program, following a ten-year Head Coach posting with the Mohawk College Men’s program. Matt has successfully been part of Team Ontario Program since 2014, but most recently was the 2019 Team Ontario Black Head Coach.

Natasha Spaling - Assistant Coach

Currently, Spaling is the Assistant Coach with the Queens University Varsity Women’s program. Previously, Natasha was the Head Coach for the Niagara Knights Women’s program. Last summer, Natasha was a Team Ontario Red Head Coach.
