TORONTO, ON (October 15, 2019) - The Canadian Women's National Volleyball team emerged from the 2019 NORCECA Women's Championships in San Juan, Puerto Rico with a bronze medal after sweeping Puerto Rico on Oct. 13.

The Canadians started the tournament strong, defeating Cuba and Costa Rica in decisive fashion before being swept by Puerto Rico. Canada bounced back in the quarterfinals, earning a 3-1 victory over Mexico but were knocked out of gold medal contention when the U.S.A. beat the team 3-0. In their match against Mexico, Canada claimed their spot in the NORCECA Olympic Qualifier tournament, taking place in early 2020. Canada then prevailed in the bronze medal match against hosts, Puerto Rico.

Alberta's Alexa Gray was awarded the 2nd Outside Hitter Award and Keira Van Ryk of British Columbia was the tournament's second-best scorer with a total of 81 points.
