TORONTO, ON (September 23, 2019) - The duo of Melissa Humana-Paredes and Sarah Pavan are back-to-back Canadian Sport Award recipients with a Summer Performance of the Year nod at the 2019 Canadian Sport Awards hosted by Athletes Canada on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Humana-Paredes and Pavan have had an incredible year, highlighted when they became World Champions at the FIVB  Beach Volleyball World Championships in Hamburg, Germany back in July. The victory earned them an automatic spot at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. This also marked the first time Canada had won beach gold on the world stage. 

The two have been busy since the World Championships, competing around the world circuit where they continued to be dominant. Just one month later, a gold medal was earned at the A1 Vienna Major and most recently, the two ended their campaign with a win in Hawaii at the AVP Hawaii Open.

At the 2018 Canadian Sport Awards, Humana-Paredes and Pavan were awarded the Partners of the Year Award in the Summer Performance category.
