11 teams represent Canada in Santa Monica

22 Canadian athletes have been taking over Santa Monica beach this week at the 2019 USAV Beach High Performance Championships where they are looking to continue the streak of Canadian podium finishes. Coaches Brad McClure, Jason Marchant and Brian O’Reilly lead the 11 Canadian teams as they compete in the three-day tournament. Modified pool play took place yesterday, which is now followed by two days of bracket play and medals being awarded to the top three finishers in the International and National Brackets on Wednesday.

U15 Females

Ruby Sorra and Emma Glagau are the youngest of the Canadians to attend but earned the top billing in their pool play. 

U17 Males

Kenneth Mann joins Markus Law-Heese this week following his title win at Hermosa Beach for the 2019 AVP First National Championship. Law-Heese and Mann sit atop their pool play. Matthew Bugosi and Nathan Dunne are also sit first in their pool going into the third day of competition. 

U17 Females

As for the females, Chloe Taylor and Maeve Millard finished second in their pool, while Kate Clermont and Josephine Sek finished third. Rounding out the field,  the teams of Syree Tucker and Emma Braticevic, and Steph Biasi and Sophia Hladyniuk, both finished fourth in their pool. 

U19 Males

Luke Hyde and Max Losier are fourth in their pool after two close games yesterday where they were edged out (21-18, 21-19) in their last game of the day. Jacob Lohrenz and Julien Jouan are fifth in their pool after two matches today.

U19 Females

Finally, Jaime Santer/Megan Monteith are third in their pool, while Kaylee Glagau/Ava Mann are fifth in their pool after two matches today.
