Jennifer Adams’ familiar face will get a little more familiar around the Ontario volleyball courts as she has accepted the position of Region Five Referees Chair. Adams, a recent Sylvia Jaksetic Female Official of the Year recipient, has been responsible for various administrative duties for the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) over the past few years.

“Jen is one of the most hard-working referees who prides herself on performing at the highest level. She is cool under pressure and someone who appears to never get flustered on or off the stand,” said outgoing chair Andrew Robb who stepped down from the position to pursue more international referee opportunities. “She is a warm, genuine individual that possess strong leadership abilities. She will take on any task that you give her and will never hear her complain.”

Jennifer is known for her ambition both personally and professionally as a referee, improving systems to help develop referees in her region. This past season alone she has spent time as a mentor, evaluator, assigner, supervisor and working referee. Most recently in her role as assignor, she introduced a streamlined assigning strategy as part of the Ontario Championships event – all focused on improving communications and engaging with referees throughout the province.

“I'm honoured by Andrew's confidence and trust in me for this important role in Region 5,” said Adams. “I feel both fortunate and excited to work more closely with officials throughout the region as we continue to develop our favourite sport and work together to improve on all of our skills.”

Adams will hold this appointment until August 2020 when the term comes up for re-appointment.
