Team Ontario (Indoor)

16U Team Ontario

This year, the 16U Team Ontario will be selected at the end of HPC for direct participation in the National Team Challenge Cup. The athletes selected to be on the 16U Team Ontario program will train for one day before they head to the competition. This program is meant to give certain players an opportunity to implement the concepts learned during HPC in a competitive environment.

When: July 17th-23rd, 2017

Where: Nipissing University, North Bay

Competition: NTCC, July 20th-23rd, 2017

Number of players: 2 teams of 12 players per gender

Selection: High Performance Identification Process and 16U High Performance Centre


17U Team Ontario

The 17U Team Ontario program is focused on the development of performance. The focus will be on developing higher-level skills and integrating Team Ontario playing systems based on the National Team systems. This program is meant to prepare athletes for the next level by placing them in an environment similar to the National Team one. Players of this program will be introduced to international competition.

When: July 7th-17th, 2017

Where: St-Clair College, Windsor

Competition: US High Performance Championships, July 18th-22nd, Fort Lauderdale

Number of players: 12 players per gender and 2 alternates per gender

Eligibility: Athletes born in 2000 and later

Selection:

  • Invitation-Only Team Ontario Selection Camp, May 19th-20th, 2017, McMaster University in Hamilton
  • Identification of athletes through the OVA Athlete Identification Process

18U Team Ontario (Canada Games)

The 18U Team Ontario program is specifically designed to prepare athletes to represent Ontario at the 2017 Canada Games in Winnipeg. The program will focus on furthering the athletes’ understanding of high performance concepts in a highly competitive context. Players will be taught refined playing systems for implementation at the Canada Games. The program will cater to all aspect of athlete development including skills, physical training, mental performance, nutrition and injury prevention. The program will include two (2) training camps and a preparation competition before attending Canada Games.

When:

  • Training Camp #1: July 2nd-17th, 2017
  • Training Camp #2 July 27th – August 5th, 2017
  • Days off: July 23rd-26th

Where:

  • Training Camp #1: Nipissing University, North Bay
  • Training Camp #2: Brock University, St-Catharines

Competition:

  • US High Performance Championships, July 18th-22nd, Fort Lauderdale
  • 2017 Canada Games, August 5th-13th, Winnipeg

Number of players: 12 players per gender will travel for competitions and 4 alternates per gender will be selected for the training camps

Eligibility: Athletes born in 1999 and later

Selection:

  • Invite-only Selection Camp, May 19th-20th, 2017, McMaster University in Hamilton
  • Identification of athletes through the OVA Athlete Identification Process
  • A minimum of 24 players per gender will be invited to the Selection Camp
