Ontario Volleyball, on behalf of Volleyball Canada, hosted the Women's National Team Challenge Cup (NTCC's) from July 23-26, 2009 at Varsity Arena at the University of Toronto. Competing teams included: Alberta (17U & 18U), BC, Manitoba, Ontario (17U & 18U) and Quebec.

The Ontario 18U team was undefeated going into Sunday afternoon’s final against BC.  However, they could not maintain their unblemished record and lost 3-1 by scores of 25-22, 25-18, 19-25, 25-19.  The Ontario 17U team won the first 2 sets of their bronze medal match against Alberta 17U but could not sustain the momentum and lost in a heartbreaker 3-2, 23-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-17, 15-12.

Based on feedback from athletes, coaches and spectators the event was a resounding success.  The playing venue was excellent and teams were housed at nearby U of T residence which enabled easy access to Varsity Arena as well as to Toronto’s trendy Yorkville district.

Congratulations go out to this years All Star award winners and the tournament MVP, Dana Cranston.
