Training to Compete Beach Provincial Team Information PDF Print E-mail
The Beach Provincial Team program affords the highest level of volleyball training and competition for young Ontarians and acts as a stepping-stone and development vehicle towards National Team opportunities.  Team Ontario Train to Compete Program description |

 Female (20U)
6-8 athletes born in 1988 or later will be identified through a selection camp to be held May 17-19.  These athletes will be identified as potential 2009 Canada Summer Games participants. They will train in their own communities throughout the summer and gather together in Toronto for 4 “mini” training camps to be held:

June 13-15
July 11-13
August 8-10
August 22-24

Under extraordinary circumstances athletes may miss 1 training camp. The date and the reason for the absence must be disclosed within the tryout application. 
Athletes are able to play both indoor and beach Provincial Team. In the event that a player is selected for both the indoor and beach Provincial Team, he/she will have the option of choosing between beach or indoor training for the July 11-13 beach camp. 

Male (21U)

Selection Camp Information 
Dates – May17-19 
Location – Beach Blast. 15 Leswyn Rd, Toronto, ON M6A 1K1
 Participation at Selection Camp:
  1. Automatic Invitation (maximum 16)
    ·         Selection committee to determine based on applications.
  2. Open Competition (2 athletes):
    ·         A "King and Queen of the Beach" tournament will be held in the morning of May 17th to determine the final 2 athletes for the selection camp.
    ·         Any athlete not receiving an automatic invitation is able to enter this tournament.
    ·         More information will be available after the application deadline.

    Athletes residing over 100kms from Beach Blast will be provided with accommodation.
Cost 
The cost of attending the tryout (May 17-19) is $50The cost for players selected to the Beach Provincial Team is $500.  Athletes will receive:

 ·         Free entry into 5 OVA beach tour events (athletes will be reimbursed after National Championships)
·         A Mikasa beach volleyball
·         Team Ontario Clothing and equipment
·         50 hours of beach training
·         Help in finding and funding a coach in the athlete’s home town
·         Accommodations for those athletes living over 100 kms from the training site during training camps

Athlete Requirements

Athletes from region 4 and 5 are required to play in Nationals, Provincials and 4 other OVA beach tour events.Athletes from region 2, 3 and 6 are required to play in Nationals, Provincials, and 3 other OVA beach tour eventsAthletes from region 1 are required to play in Provincials and Nationals. Free entry fees will be forfeit if an athlete fails to participate in the required number of OVA beach tour events.
