Ontario Volleyball is excited to announce that it was recently successful in its Sport Priority Funding application and will be receiving $50,000 from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.
The grant will be used to expand the OVA’s current SPIKES® beach volleyball programming for 9 - 12 year olds. The SPIKES® on the Beach project is extremely important to the OVA as it will reduce the gap between high level, competitive beach volleyball down to the introductory, grassroots development programs in Ontario.
The main objectives of this grant application include:
- Create and deliver a pilot SPIKES® on the Beach 8 week house league program
- Release the SPIKES® on the Beach Learning To Train manual
- Create online video supplements for the SPIKES® on the Beach Learning To Train manual
- Increase the number of indoor OVA Clubs and communities offering beach volleyball developmental programs
It is the hopes of the Association that having these resources and programs in place for beach volleyball will not only introduce 500 young players to the sport, but will also attract them to pursue beach volleyball for life.
