The OVA is excited to announce its new partnership with Tournament Housing Services (THS). A veteran hotel booking agency, THS specializes in team travel for eight (8) different sports and over one hundred (100) different tournaments each year, with volleyball representing over 50% of its total business.
“The Ontario Volleyball Association is thrilled to partner with THS, working closely together to take our competitions and very successful Ontario Championships experience to new levels,” said OVA Executive Director, Steve Carroll. “After nine years of support and service for USA Volleyball events, combined with their very impressive and user friendly online booking tools, we look forward to working with THS in support of our events and our membership’s accommodation needs.”
THS offers clients a state-of-the-art online reservation system providing a seamless reservation process for teams and attendees. The website allows for the submission of reservation requests with immediate confirmation for blocks of up to 100 rooms per team/club reservation, the most in the housing industry. Teams also have the ability to enter their rooming list and make all changes online, as well as receive a real confirmation number generated by the hotel for each room they reserve. Each reservation is also covered by a tournament cancellation insurance policy that pays all hotel cancellation fees in the event the tournament is canceled for almost any reason. THS also provides phone and fax options, along with a full customer support centre to assist teams with their hotel booking needs.
"Traditionally, amateur volleyball tournaments have been THS's bread and butter, as they represent over 50% of our total business. Volleyball teams/travelers are simply the cream of the crop in terms of sports travel,” said Tom Berkman, General Manager of THS. “Having the opportunity to expand to Canada and work with the Ontario Volleyball Association is both consistent with our business model, and very exciting to become associated with such a great organization."
THS actively monitors hotel rates to ensure the best possible prices for their clients, with staff make monthly integrity calls, including calling 800 numbers, the front desk, and checking internet sites. Calls are made weekly beginning three (3) weeks prior to a tournament. Hotels found offering lower rates than the rates contracted will have to turn off that lower rate and/or offer that lower rate to the entire OVA block at that hotel.
The OVA asks all of its members to respect this important sponsorship and partnership by booking all OVA related hotel rooms through THS moving forward.
For the 2013 and 2014 Ontario Championships, THS will be securing blocks of hotel rooms at the best rates available for team bookings at participating hotels in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. The age categories per weekend for the 2013 Ontario Championships will be announced in the coming weeks. Once announced, we recommend contacting THS to ensure availability and the best rates for your team and supporters.
