The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) is run through the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) and provides volleyball coaching certification at five levels. Each of the first three levels are broken down into three components each; Intro to Competition, NCCP Volleyball Courses and the Portfolio and Evaluation Requirements. In order to become certified at a certain level, a coach must complete all three components.
Some common words found in the new NCCP volleyball stream are:

Multi-sport Module: formerly known as theory courses

Intro to Comp Part A: Replaces Level 1 Theory (11.5 hours)

Intro to Comp B: Replaces Level 2 Theory (13.5 hours)

Level 3 Theory - integrates material covered in Part A/B with new information that is focused on planning a year of training and competition.

Level 1 Volleyball Course: Replaces level 1 Technical Course

Level 2 Volleyball Course: New term for the level 2 Technical Course

Level 3 Volleyball Course: New term for the level 3 Technical Course

Portfolio and Evaluation Requirements: Replaces the Practical component of each coaching level

In Training Instruction Beginner: When a coache has completed a Level 1 Volleyball Course

Trained Instruction Beginner: When a coache has completed the Intro to Comp A Course and Level 1 Volleyball Course

Certified Instruction Beginner: When a coache has completed the Level 1 Volleyball Course, Intro to Comp A Course, has completed their Level 1 Portfolio and Evaluation requirements and has been evaluated by a Level 2 Volleyball Course

In Training Competition-Int – Will appear on a coaches transcript when they have completed a Level 2 Volleyball Course

Trained Competition-Int: Will appear on a coaches transcript when they have completed their Level 2 volleyball course and Intro to Comp B Course and are Level 1 Volleyball Certified.

Certified Competition-Int: Will appear on a coaches transcript when they have they have completed their Level 2 volleyball course, Intro to Comp B Course and have completed their Level 2 Volleyball Portfolio and have been evaluated by a Level 3 Certified Volleyball Coach.
A coach is described as:

In Training: when a coach has completed some of the required training for a context;

Trained: when a coach has completed all of the training for a context;

Certified: when a coach has compled all evaluation requirements for a context
The Intro to Comp portion is not sport specific and is managed by the Coaches Association of Ontario which located in the Sport Alliance of Ontario Building.

Please note: A coach must complete the NCCP Volleyball Course and Intro to Comp component before embarking on the Portfolio and Evaluation and must fully complete one coaching level before beginning the next level.
