2007 Ontario Volleyball Coaches Symposium PDF Print

The 2007 OVA Coaches Symposium, presented by Mizuno, will take place at McMaster University in conjunction with the 2007 CIS Men's National Championship on March 2-4, 2007.

The presentations over the 3 days will include two separate coaching streams featuring Local, National and International presenters.

Presenters:
Replacing Lang Ping as our new headline presenters, John Cook is the Head Coach of the 2006 NCAA National Champion Nebraska Cornhuskers.  Co-headlining with John will be Ontario's own Sarah Pavan . John is a two time AVCA National Coach of the Year.
Outside of leading one of the top US College programs the last 7 years, John served as USA Men's National Team Assistant Coach where he won a bronze medal in the 1992 Olympic Games. He has also served time as the USA Women's National Training Team head coach.
To most Ontario Volleyball fans, John is most well known for coaching former Waterloo Tigers/Forest Heights Collegiate star and current NCAA Player of the Year and National Champion Sarah Pavan.  Sarah will be on hand to answer questions during John's video analysis presentation on Sunday March 4.

Julien Boucher - Topic - "Being a Better Coach"
Julien is a former National Team Assistant coach.  European Pro Coach.  Former OVA Technical Director.  Current Technical Director of Volleyball Quebec.
   
Luke Snider - Topic - "Training the Libero"
Luke is a former National Team and European Professional Libero who is originally from Kitchener.  He was Canada's Libero at the 2002 World Championships.  He is currently an assistant coach at Sir Wilfred Laurier University.

Glenn Hoag - Key Note Speaker
Glenn is the current Canadian National Team Men's Head Coach.  He is a former CIS Coach of the Year and the only Candaian coach to ever lead a professional team to the CEV European Champions League Championship.

Jeff Chung - Topic - "Training the Setter" (On-court Session)
Jeff is a former National Team Setter Libero. Currently he is the Head Coach of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.

Dustin Reid - Topic - "Advanced Drill and Practice Planning"
Dustin is the current Technical Director of Ontario Volleyball.

Wally Dyba - Topic - "Lead up Games - Incredible Volleyball"
Wally is one of Ontario's only NCCP Certified level 4 coaches.  He is also a NCCP Certified Level 3 beach coach.  He is currently the Head Coach of the York University Lions.

Merv Mosher - Topic "Teaching Game Sense"
Merv is a former Head Coach of the York University women's program.  During his career he was voted OUA Coach of the Year 10 times.  He currently serves on the Volleyball Canada Coaching Committee and coaches 16U with the Aurora Storm VBC.

Heather Harrison - Topic - "Promoting Positive Body Image in Sport"
Heather is a former OVA Spikes Program Provincial Director who has been instrumental in the sucess and popularity of the Spikes program.  She currently works with Body Sense, an organization that promotes positive self esteem and self image through sport.

Chris Lawson - Topic - "Preparing for Major Competition"
Chris is a former Ontario Provincial Team Head and Assistant Coach who has represented Ontario at the last 2 Canada Summer Games.  He is currently coaching 18U with the Mountain Athletic Club. He is also the President of OVA Region 3 and a member of the OVA Board of Directors.
