Team Ontario Beach
The 2008 Ontario Provincial Team Beach will have two divisions in line with the Long Term Athlete Development principal.
Learn to Compete (L2C)
Ages: 18U Men (born 1990 or later) and 17U Women (born 1991 or later)
Major Competitions:
Ontario Provincial Championships 2008
Ontario Summer Games 2008
Canadian National Championships 2008
Selection Process: 16 teams per sex will be selected from all six regions in Ontario
6 teams – Based on the team OVA Tour average placing of top 3 results in the 18U division.
6 teams chosen (1 team/region)
4 teams – Wildcard births.
Important Dates:
Monday, July 21st – Top 6 teams from the OVA Tour will be announced.
Monday, July 21st – Wildcard nominations open for submitting.
Thursday, July 24th – Top 6 Regional Teams will be announced.
Monday, July 28th – Wildcard births announced.
Team Concept:
August 9-13th – Training Camp in Ottawa
August 13-16th – Ontario Summer Games 2008
Train to Compete (T2C)
Ages: 21U Men (born in 1987 or later) and 20U Women (born in 1988 or later)
Major Competitions:
OVA Beach Tour Challenge Cup
Ontario Provincial Championships 2008
Canadian National Championships 2008
Canadian Summer Games 2009
Selection Process:
6-8 athletes/sex will be selected to form 3-4 teams in Ontario
Important Dates:
May 16-18 – Selection/Identification Camp and Physical Testing
June 13-15 – Training Camp
July 11-13 – Training Camp
August 8-10 – Training Camp
August 22-24 – Training Camp
Team Concept:
This team is created to provide elite athletes with high level training opportunities around Ontario. Athletes will have access to training facilities and coaches throughout the summer at various locations in the province. The teams will also have the advantage of training against top level teams and have free access to all OVA Beach Tour competitions throughout the season.
