Scorpions' Mulholland among 6 OVA Athletes Selected to Youth Women's National Team

Wednesday, June 14, 2017

The Cambridge Scorpions are proud to announce that their very own Maddi Mulholland has been selected to Canada's Women's Youth National Team.

The purpose of the Youth National Team program is to identify, select and train a group of athletes who have future Senior National Team potential. The programs are also designed to identify an athlete pool to continue to develop through advanced training opportunities in future programs.

Maddi, left side and libero for last year's Team Ontario 16UG Red, was one of only 14 players selected from a Canada-wide selection process. Of those 14, six are OVA athletes. In addition to Maddi, congratulations also goes out to:

Haley Armstrong, Milton, ON
Sadie Dick, St. Catharines, ON
Ellie Hatashita, Kanata, ON
Lexi Iggulden, Toronto, ON
Lauren Pastor, Etobicoke, ON

These athletes will attend a two week training camp with the Youth National Team before competing at the USA High Performance Championships July 17-23 at Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Paul Langan, Founder of Scorpions Volleyball Club, states,

"It is no surprise to me that Maddi has been selected to the National Youth Team. She is one of the most dominant players in both indoor and beach volleyball in Ontario. We wish her success in her future goals."
