OVA Athletes Tang & Yamnyuk Claim Bronze for Hamilton, Canada at Children's Games in Lithuania

Great news from Europe! Girls beach volleyball team Eileen Tang and Christina Yamnyuk, coached by Mark Wu and representing Hamilton, Canada, won the bronze medal at the International Children's Game in Lithuania this past weekend.

The team lost their first match to Slovenia 0-2 in the round robin but won the rest of their pool play matches with wins of 2-0 over Greece, Netherlands and Israel.

In the semi-finals they lost to a very good team from Lithuania 0-2 and then fought hard in the bronze medal game, a re-match versus Slovenia which they won 2-0. Austria won gold, Lithuania silver and the girls, representing Canada, rounded out the podium with the bronze. 

Both Eileen and Christina play indoor with Smash Volleyball Club and beach with Legacy Beach Club in the Hamilton/ Burlington area.

OVA Athletes Representing Hamilton at Children's Games in Lithuania 

Congratulations to OVA athletes Eileen Tang, Christina Yamnyuk, Adam Antolin, and Bridgely Van Der Mark on their selection to compete for Team Hamilton at the International Children's Games in Lithuania. 

They were selected as the top players/teams to represent Hamilton and the Golden Horseshoe Region for Boys and Girls 15U Beach Volleyball in the 51st International Children's Games held from July 1th to July 8th 2016, in Kaunas, Lithuania.

The International Children's Games (ICG) are expected to bring together approximately 2500 athletes and coaches/delegates from cities around the world. The ICG is recognized and supported by the International Olympic Committee.

This is a very unique event and the opportunity of a lifetime for young athletes. Good luck to both teams!
