It’s no secret that 18U players are fantastic role models for the younger athletes in the OVA. The 18U finals for both girls and boys are always marquee spectacles at Ontario Championships, with hundreds of spectators and young players gathering courtside to witness the pinnacle of the Ontario Volleyball indoor season. After a long club career, the Ontario Championships are the final indoor event of an OVA athlete’s career and should be an event that will be remembered forever. This is why in 2018, the OVA will be offering a unique Ontario Championship experience to the top boys and girls 18U teams.

At the 2018 Ontario Championships, the top 16 girls teams and the top 8* boys teams will be entered in a High Performance division which will feature:

  • Best of 5 format for quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals
  • Championship final matches played on feature court
  • More live streamed matches than ever before
  • Increased media coverage
  • Plus other special features for athletes

*number of teams on boys side may be increased depending on registrations for 18U boys division.

This competition format will give athletes an opportunity to experience a feature competition that resembles what they will potentially face at the next level of competition in college, university and/or pro leagues. It will also provide younger athletes an incredible chance to be inspired by the best club volleyball in the province. Above all, it will bring our Ontario Volleyball community together to celebrate our very best athletes and coaches.

This experience will ultimately help the OVA prepare to offer similar opportunities to more athletes and age divisions in the future. The OVA is excited by the tremendous growth in volleyball participation across the province. More young athletes are choosing to play volleyball than ever before, and more opportunities for meaningful competition are being provided. It is our goal to continue to grow the sport and inspire our membership to reach new heights. Be sure to be at RIM Park for Event 5 (April 27-29, 2018) featuring the 18U boys and girls and the new High Performance division, or follow along on the OVA social media channels and live streams.
