Ontario Coaches Join Volleyball Canada's High Performance Program

Volleyball Canada’s High Performance Program has announced the following seasonal coaching appointments:

In the women’s program, assistant coaches Lee Carter (Brandon University) and Joey Martins (Niagara College) will join full-time head coach Arnd Ludwig.  The women’s team, based in Winnipeg, Man., is currently preparing for the World Championships Qualifications tournament to be held in Mississauga, Ont., May 16 to 19.

The women’s National B team assistant coach, working with head coach Scott Koskie, will be Haiqi Liu (University of Guelph).  This group will be training until June 22 in Winnipeg.

The men’s program will see the National B team guided by head coach Georges Laplante (University of Montreal) and assistant coaches - Nathan Groenveld (Niagara College) and Ryan Ratushniak (University of Manitoba).  This group will be training and preparing for the Pan Am Cup for men, August 9 to 17 in Mexico.

The men’s junior team will be working toward the U21 NORCECA Championships, July 27 to Aug. 04 in El Salvador. The head coach will be John Barrett (University of Toronto).  The assistant coaches are Brock Davidiuk (Team Alberta/University of Alberta) and Mark Dodds (Team Saskatchewan/University of Sask.).

“We are excited about the staff we have assembled for our summer programs,” said Julien Boucher, High Performance Director for Volleyball Canada. "We will have a very nice mix of youth and experience, and everyone is looking forward to a successful summer.”
