By Award of a Panel under the Ontario Volleyball Association Discipline and Complaints Policy, a decision has been rendered in a proceeding against Garth Morris (aka Zack Jameson) and Jared Linden. The Panel has found that both Mr. Morris and Mr. Linden committed major infractions under the Policy.
Mr. Morris is permanently prohibited from re-joining the Ontario Volleyball Association or participating in the activities of any OVA Club, Regional or Associate Member. The sanction against Mr. Morris is the most serious that the OVA can impose upon an individual. It is an effective lifetime ban from any activities under the OVA umbrella.
Mr. Linden has received a two-year prohibition from re-joining the Ontario Volleyball Association or participating in the activities of any OVA Club, Regional or Associate Member. Mr. Linden is eligible to be re-considered by the OVA as a member after November 11, 2018.
The Complaint arose after Mr. Morris settled a prior complaint with the OVA by agreeing to have no involvement, directly or indirectly, in any organized volleyball activity for a period of five years. Contrary to his agreed upon prohibition, and mere weeks later, Mr. Morris began operating a volleyball club under the OVA in violation of his settlement. Mr. Morris used aliases and intermediaries to carry out the club’s operation. Mr. Linden was one of Mr. Morris’ intermediaries, and knew of Mr. Morris’ suspension. The OVA received complaints from parents about the club, and investigated. The results of the investigation led to the discipline proceeding. Neither Mr. Morris nor Mr. Linden chose to defend themselves in response to the allegations made against them.
