Thursday, November 16, 2017

Hanna Laube officially signed her National Letter of Intent and will attend NCAA Division I school Bowling Green State University (BGSU) to play for the Falcons. The Falcons have had a very successful season and currently lead the Mid-American Conference. The BGSU volleyball program has been recognized for academic excellence by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with the AVCA Team Academic Award for 17 consecutive years. This is the second-longest active streak of earning this award among all NCAA Division I volleyball programs.

Hanna joins Head Coach, Paul Podstawka and the Jr Gryphons 18U team this season, having previously played with the Halton Hurricanes. During her 6 years playing club volleyball, Hanna was selected to the Youth National Team as well as Team Ontario 16U as a Captain. Her club team won bronze at the National Championships East in 2016 and silver at the Ontario Provincial Championships in 2014. In 2017 she was nominated to the JVA Ultra Ankle Watch List. Hanna has been a four year starter on her high school team, the Hayden Huskies, where she has been named Captain and MVP twice. In 2017, the Hayden Huskies won Bronze at the OFSAA Volleyball Championships and Hanna was selected to the Halton All-Star Team. Off the court, Hanna is an honours student.

Coach comment from Paul:

"Hanna is an exceptional athlete and role model on and off the volleyball court. Her work ethic, dedication and competitive nature has enabled her to excel and take her to the NCAA level. She is truly an excellent example of a leader and is well respected by her teammates and coaches. It’s been a pleasure coaching Hanna in her final club season. I wish Hanna all the best and a successful career at Bowling Green State University.”
