2016 Indoor High Performance Summer Programs

Friday, December 11, 2015

Ontario Volleyball is pleased to announce its 2016 High Performance Summer Programs.

The High Performance Centre (HPC) and Team Ontario represent the highest level of training for Ontario players within the OVA Athlete Development Program. Both programs are back for 2016 and present some changes from previous years.

The main changes affect the selection process for HPC as well as the age groups involved in the programs. The intention behind those modifications is to bring more consistency in the future and to align the programs with the new High Performance philosophy at the OVA. The focus will be put on long-term athlete development and player identification.

The 17U teams will travel to Florida for the US High Performance Championship at the end of their training camp. The OVA will provide Volleyball Canada with an evaluation of all the 17U Team Ontario players as part of their players’ identification process.

More specific information to follow in January of 2016.

18U Players

The OVA is not offering an 18U Team Ontario program in 2016 because Volleyball Canada is running an extensive 18U national program. Players will train with the 18U National Team beginning July 10th and will compete at the US High Performance Championships.

The OVA will assist Volleyball Canada in the identification process for this program and will support Ontario’s 18U athletes who wish to try-out. (All details will communicated when Volleyball Canada release the information).

16U Team Ontario Coaches

The OVA is seeking candidates to apply for the coaching positions on the Team Ontario 16U teams.  Each Team Ontario Coach holds a key leadership position within the Ontario Volleyball Association’s High Performance program. The successful candidates will be responsible for identifying and developing high performance athletes.
